[This Page is a description of a partly completed idea. Many people are interested in Business-Based Learning as a concept, but no one, so far, is interested enough to purchase it. This course is a great idea, but it must be repackaged to fit customer needs. Because my customers are buying the Project Guides, I am focused on that aspect of YGuide Academy rather than on Micro-Business. As a result, I have removed the Order Page; however, I continue to place this page before you as an interesting topic.]

Micro-Business for Teenagers

Micro-Business for HighSchoolers is a nine-month course - always updated - that leads teenagers through the process of developing real-world businesses, while they master many of their high school learning objectives, and bring profit and value to their world.

Teenagers Doing Business: The Time Is Now!

There is no better time in life to start a business than as a teenager. Teenagers are full of hope for the future. They want to prove that they can hold their own in a real world. Their minds are supple and strong, and they don't have the obligations that weigh adults down.

Teenagers need the opportunity to try the real, to produce value for others, to fail, and to get up again and keep trying until they succeed. Most of what is called education puts a high grade on mediocre work and rolls right along, ignoring failure. In fact, failure is rarely treated as a starting point for learning.

So how is business-based learning different?
Business-based learning sees teenagers as producers of value and places them at the center of learning. Young people starting their own businesses find themselves needing real information that works for them right now. They quickly learn what works and what does not work. They learn from their failures; they learn most how to change what they do quickly until it works. They learn that a 97% job doesn't cut it. A customer wants 100%. They learn that what they do with their hands and with their minds is valued; they themselves have value.

They learn self respect. And how to read - and understand what they read. How to write and write well - for real world readers, not for teachers. How to work the numbers, in order to increase their profit. How to design, how to craft, how to relate with people.

But most of all, learning has meaning. It fits what is important now.

Teenagers, starting their own businesses as part of a high school education, are miles ahead, at age 20, than their counterparts who are still wandering the maze of simulation called "school." And the incredible advantage is that they don't have to support a family. They are just students after all, and learning. There is minimal risk for them in running a micro-business.

Get Started Now!
It takes very little investment for a young person to start a business. The key is to do it; to make something and get out there and sell it. Or to set up a service, obtain clients, and produce value for them.

What they need is guidance. They don't get that guidance from schools, just simulation. Parents could be their guide, but most are busy.

Parents, find a good program that leads your teenagers step-by-step to build their own businesses and watch them create value and freedom in this world.

Aren't Teens Too Young to Start A Business?

Are they too young? Despite what you may have heard ...
the answer is a resounding NO!

In fact, it’s the perfect time for them to start a business.

- Following the advice in the Micro-Business course, I chose to teach piano as my micro-business. I now have 8 beginner students and earn more than $350 a month. Being the teacher instead of the student has been a real eye-opener for me. And I love it. I am looking forward to putting my business on the Internet.

Also at the end of the year, your teen will get another Special Report containing the informational and inspirational stories of each student who entered the Best Business Story contest (See Below), along with all the other student work that won a prize. You will discover why the grand prize winner was selected ... what made his or her business the best for the year.

I have shown you the structure of the course, but not its heart. Woven throughout every part of the course are 8 skill sets.

  • Writing skills that sizzle, provoke, entertain, motivate, inspire - and, of course that win readers and are actually read - by adults - for their own improvement.
  • Math skills that track earnings and predict profits, that calculate costs and satisfy the IRS.
  • Business skills that manage time and materials, that analyze markets and buying patterns, that comprehend freedom and how it works.
  • People skills that set at ease, that honor and bless, that comfort and welcome and thank, that satisfy the customer.

Does your child's present schooling give him or her these qualities?

  • Research skills that seek and find and make useful, that differentiate, that value, that retain the useful and discard the unimportant - in the real world.
  • Personal skills of contemplation, creative and critical thinking, understanding one's own strengths and weaknesses.
  • Craft skills that work and build and make with the hands, that serve and care for and create, that repair and fix and operate.
  • Design skills that create and imagine, that draw and proportion and give space and color and sense.

Of course, what you are purchasing for your child does not end there, by any means.
